Without desire, controlling mind and body, giving up all possessions, doing karma only to keep your body running, he will never acquire any sinful reactions.

Continuing from the previous verse –

One should act giving up desire for karma phala, being satisfied, and by being independent.

In this verse Lord says, one should act

  • Giving up desire(nirasih) – your actions should not be for desire fulfillment.
  • Controlled mind and intelligence (yata chitta atma) – Your actions should not be based on emotions(anger, sadness, hurt)
  • Giving up all your possessions(tyaktva sarva parigraha) – not attached to your possessions, actions should not be done to safe guard your possessions.
  • Only to sustain your body (sariram kevalam karma kurvan) – doing only what is required

If one acts this way, he will not acquire any sinful reactions of his work.
