What is karma should be understood. What is vikarma(forbidden work), should also be understood. What is (akarma)inaction should also be understood. How karma works, is very intricate.

Sri Krishna is about to preach what is one’s duty and what is not.

He says one should know what are his duties, what are forbidden for him, and what is considered to be inaction.

Arjuna was about to run away from his duties, by not fighting. He thought that by running away, he is getting rid of his bad karma. That is also not right(supposedly). That is inaction. So one should have clarity about these things.
