Arjuna said – Your birth is recent, Sun God’s birth is ancient. How shall I understand that you instructed thus in the beginning.

Arjuna’s question – Sri Krishna’s is younger to Sun God by birth, how could he have instructed him long ago?

Sri Krishna said,
Many of my births have passed, so have yours O Arjuna! I know all of them, you don’t know them, O Parantapa!

This verse talks about the birth-rebirth of the souls. Sri Krishna, Arjuna, you and me, we all were there before, we’ll continue to be in the future. But Sri Krishna being the Lord himself, remembers everything. But the conditioned souls like us, don’t.
