Arjuna Uvacha – Hey Janardhana, in your opinion if intelligence is better than karma, then why are you asking me to engage in this ghora(ghastly) action, O Keshava.

In the previous chapter Sri Krishna, brushed upon subjects like characteristics of soul, buddih yoga, how to be a sthitha-prajna, how to do karma without any expectations and how it is low level karma if did having any desire behind.

Now Arjuna is asking, if Bhakthi is all that is needed to be in touch with the lord, why are asking me to kill people?

By ambiguous statements my intelligence is bewildered. Therefore tell me with certainty only one which will be beneficial for me.

In the last chapter sometimes the Lord talks about fight(karma), sometimes talks about Bhakthi,  sometimes talks about the characteristics of soul(jnana). Arjuna is finding it all ambiguous and is not able to decide what is right for him. So he asks Sri Krishna to tell him decisively which path is good for him.
